German Innovation Award
Inspired by the work of Gottfried Wagener, the German Innovation Awards were initiated by several German companies including Bayer in Japan and the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan to support young and highly promising researchers, while promoting cooperation between Germany and Japan in industry and academia.
The German Innovation Award, launched in 2008, is named after Gottfried Wagener, a German scientist who contributed to the advancement of modern science in Japan in the 19th century. The award is intended to strengthen the bonds between Japan and Germany in scientific research and development, and to cultivate new partnerships.
Innovation provides the foundation for the future growth of businesses, and is a key focus for Bayer. In order to provide support for young researchers in Japan, we have been sponsoring this program since 2008.
